Love of Philosophy, Love of Life with a Mongolian heart: Equality

Equality
Some people believe that they can achieve anything. They think they can be better than anyone they have encountered in their lives. However, this is never the case. They will always be some people achieving better things, doing things that they cannot do. Even still, when the cold truth is staring right at them they never seem to open their eyes and admit some people are just superior than they are.
In some situations it is admirable to have a good optimistic point of view on life.
"Be confident, have charm, be humorous then you will get the girl."- as my friend told me. Need I remind you he has a distinct Caucasian face, and he lives in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. When I told him, "but you have foreign features." He said distinctly, " why do you bring up race? looks don't matter, all you gotta have is charm and confidence." if it was true, how come more people are drawn to him than other mongolians? Nonetheless, he overlooked the fact people tend to notice things out of the ordinary. Like in a plain, a person does not notice single individual grasses that, they notice flowers that have bold colors and scarce.
Granted he was just trying to boost my moral, which I did not need. He did not seem to understand the part where some people are just born different. These differences are the key, that some people don't want to see.
We are born different, so that some Homo Homo Sapiens can weed out bad and attract the best mate for themselves, that their offspring will have more advantage of finding a better mate and prosper in life. This is proven fact, Darwin himself would agree. These differences gives some of us an edge, or head start in life, granted it can also be hindrance. it's just matter of fact on how we use those qualities in life, the color of your skin, your height, your gender.
Equality - "This is the written account of Adam’s family line .When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God." (Genesis 5:1) Thus my friend continue to say, "we maybe born different and have different fortunes, but we all have equal opportunities, no matter if we look different, in height, and in weight. We can all achieve, we just need to try hard to prosper." True, some people just need to work harder to get somewhere in life if they don't have look's they can utilize their intellect (if they have one), some can utilize their height and become a world renowned jockey, some can use their hirsutism to become a circus act. However, not everyone has that privilege to become equal's among other people. Some people who are born with hereditary diseases are not not born equal, no matter have hard they try they will be never be considered equal or normal. No matter how some people try and help them coop, and make them happy, some of them will never have equal opportunities to get in life. My friend will never understand how some of those people are treated differently in life, and how lucky he is sometimes (He is ostracized sometimes for his looking different). I have yet to see a person who is born with extra limbs or no limbs at all become an equal star as Madonna, Elton John, or like Ringo Star. You would not want to see blind man operating vehicle that require sight. however, I'm very glad that Dennis Hong and his team of engineers are developing car for the blind.
Nonetheless some people are born so lucky in life that they do not need try to prosper in life. For example, if I were born to rich family and I do not have good lucks, good health, good fat to height ratio, and don't have any great characteristics I would have to try at all to get what I want, I would attract the best looking mates would good health (probably not good intellect). Still, i have gained more than others by not doing anything granted I was slob with money.

Some people will never understand how other's try even harder just to be considered equals, and for some it is even difficult for those who have impairments.

Note: I did not write this because I'm depressed, or very crude looking, or have been dumped. I wrote this just to state the facts and cause just wanted to.

Philosophy

Bertrand Russell said, "Between theology and science there is a No Man's Land, exposed to attack from both sides, this No Man's Land is Philosophy"
Such a simple quote, sums such a great premise. It almost gives you very good sense of what is the purpose of philosophy.

To Swallow fox Eyes
If I were to define myself who I am, first response I would make is I’m a Mongolian. Sure it is a very vague statement that does not describe any characteristics I possess, it only accounts for my ethnicity, but to me my ethnicity is an essence of my character, cause it shaped who I am right now, my goals, aspirations, and my view of the world. But, as I was growing up I believed my ethnic background was a drawback.
When I was kid, I had very little interest in my ethnic background. I was the first generation of kids who were raised in democratic era in Mongolia. Fall of communism, and emergence of democracy introduced TV shows like the Simpsons, Friends, and 7th heaven to Mongolian kids like me. What projected on the square black box, I enjoyed it. I learned my first English word on TV and its arsenal of western TV shows even improved my English vocabulary. I even developed needless to say more of an “American” way of thinking. I liked what I saw on TV and it was better than what I saw outside my window. I disregarded Mongolian writing and I started reading more English books.
One day my English teacher gave me a copy of “the Catcher and the Rye”. I loved reading it; I enjoyed it so much I spent my whole Saturday afternoon till the following Sunday morning finish reading it. As I finished reading the book whilst I was going to bed at 7 in the morning my mother awaking up asked me in Mongolian, “Did you swallow fox eyes, last night?” When my mother asked me this I had no idea what she was talking about. Few years later when I came to the states, I was chatting with my friend, I asked him, “when are you going to bed is not it late there?” he told me same thing my mother told in different manner, “I think I swallowed fox eyes, I will go to bed later.” The second time I still did not understood what it meant. Seemingly I thought I would get mocked by my friend if I asked him what it meant, cause it seemed a very simple Mongolian idiom that I just did not know, so I stood silent said my goodbye and went to bed.
Feeling desperate and angst to not ask people what it meant I started to read Mongolian literature and books on folk sayings on foxes to find what it meant. As I read on I had a deep sense of pride of being a Mongolian. I could surely say what it means to swallow fox eyes now. To swallow fox eyes - not feeling sleepy, to be alert and to have cunning insight expressed in one emotion. Just imagine yourself drinking large sum of coffee, drinking more than your regular batch, having that effect on your body without drinking the coffee would be called to swallow fox eyes.
Now I have feeling I should honor my culture if I want to expand knowledge even more. Cause in the end I have to swallow fox eyes to make a better future for myself and for my country.
PS. this was first published in my school paper, and i just wanted something on this blog that showed who I'm and this essay seem to sum up some of things i stand for. Later on I will post some of my philosophical essays.
- Thank you all much love
